The third album by The Game, L.A.X, has just missed out from being number one in the charts. A disappointing result considering his last two albums, The Documentary and Doctor’s Advocate both were number one albums.
Some early reports had stated that The Game, was in front with sales however Soundscan were asked to do a recount and the following figures were released.
Slipknot, All Hope is Gone- 239,516 Albums Sold
The Game, L.A.X- 238,382 Albums Sold
Dissapointing really, Game’s first album shifted nearly 600,000 copies, his second, Doctor’s Advocate shifted over 360,000. So this new releases was somewhat below expectations.
In the UK Game peaked at number 9 in the album charts.
CD Charts, Do They Matter?
Just a little food for thought people…. does the album chart really matter anymore?
In third place this week was Kid Rock, who shifted 89,000 units and then Coldplay at tenth position with 44,000 sold. The problem with this though is, in my opionion, it’s not enough. How can you tell someone that they’ve got a number one album in America when only about 1 million residents purchase a chart album that week? It’s not a big enough sample of people, it’s therefore inaccurate. What does my fellow Beat Junkies think??
