American RnB artist and producer Ne-yo (real name Shaffer Smith) has won over $700,000 after suing fellow singer R.Kelly for dropping him from a tour.
The Closer singer jointly headlined a tour in 2007 with R.Kelly called the Double Up Tour. After two shows however it could be argued that Ne-Yo was getting a lot more attention and press recognition for it. So in a moment of jealously and divaness R.Kelly kicked him of the tour paying $50,000 to Ne-Yo for the performaces.
Confused and feeling slightly short changed Ne-Yo along with his touring company, Compound Touring Inc, then slapped a law suit on R.Kelly and Rowe Entertainment.
After failing to appear in court the judge has demanded that damages be paid to Ne-Yo totaling to $735,000 which added to the previous $50,000 makes $785,000 in total, the originally agreed fee for Ne-Yo to do the 25 date tour.
