On Tuesday the 4th of November the 56th US General Elections are being held and it’s looking set to make the history books. The opinion polls, so far, are showing a new US President in the form of Democrat, Barack Obama winning the vote.
This time round however the general public and celebrities have been making a big deal about voicing their opinions and having free speech. As the world faces recession, war continues in Iraq and thousands face redundancy/unemployment it’s fair to say we’ve all had enough and want change, resulting in encouragement for us to vote.
Although most have chosen to back Obama, a shock surprise came this week when Jay-Z dedicated his No.1 song “99 Problems” to McCain and Palin. The Brooklyn rapper took to the stage on Wednesday (15th October) with DJ AM who returned to the stage under a month after being hurt in a plane crash along with Travis Barker.
The duo performed for over two hours and before performing the No.1 song he sent a shout out to his Republican’s.
Other artists get involved in the elections include The Beastie Boys who are doing a tour called ‘Get Out and Vote‘ in which they’re going to encourage people to vote. In the same press statement they stated they were supporters of Barrack Obama.
