The Beat Junkies

The 13th annual Music Of Black Origin Awards were held last night (16th October) in London and boy what a night. Not only did Leona Lewis get booed by fans for failing to appear but the same happened to our UK Gem Dizzee Rascal who also didn’t show up.

The main winners on the night were clearly Dizzee Rascal and Estelle. Dizzee won the Best UK Male award whilst Estelle grabbed Best UK Female and Best Song for American Boy, taken from her album Shine.

So what about Dizzee and Leona not showing up? Firstly and mainly in my opinion, shame on them, both are UK artists and both owe a lot to the general public. Leona, although she’s got an exceptional voice, was voted to fame when she won ‘X-Factor’ therefore not appearing at a UK Award show should be a no no. Then as for Dizzee, well you can’t be mad at the man, but still he reps London to the maximum and he should have been proud about the show and appeared.

Another winner on the night that deserves to be mentioned is Lil’ Wayne who won the Best Hip Hop Award after the release of The Carter III. Lil’ Wayne has recently announced that he is working on the follow up album, The Carter IV.
