Danny Byrd:Supersized
Danny Byrd:SupersizedIs it a bird, is it a plane…actually it is a bird, or rather Danny Byrd with his highly anticipated debut album.
Danny hails from Bath and was one of the first artists to sign to Hospital Records back at the turn of the millennium and his work ethic has always been about quality not quantity which is why this is only his first album in around nine years and it doesn’t disappoint. The album kicks off with the jungle sounds of ‘Shock Out’ which has been well received by the likes of Andy C who has rinsed it in recent sets. The title track ‘supersized’ oozes funk with a wicked live bass and tight rolling drums that just make you want to dance. Other highlights include ‘Red Mist’ featuring ik and the mighty ‘Gold Rush’, a collaboration with the Brookes Brothers, both impressive slices of liquid dnb. Although there could be a few more tracks, only 11, this is definitely worth checking out if you like your drum and bass fresh and funky. Watch an Interview with Danny Byrd |
